CHENNAI, MARCH 22. The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader, S. Ramadoss, today charged that the State Government's ``indifferent attitude'' and implementation of futile schemes, were responsible for the `drinking water crisis' facing Tamil Nadu. In a statement here, Dr.Ramadoss said, drinking water scarcity was emerging as a huge challenge in the State. Several youths who took up jobs in Chennai were leaving because of the acute water shortage in the city. ``If this is the situation in the State capital, the conditions in rural areas is needless to mention.'' On the occasion of the World Water day today, the Government had issued advertisements advising people to conserve rainwater to avoid lining up on streets with pots. Dr.Ramadoss said these advertisements only reminded him of the Governor's address which congratulated the Chief Minister on setting up of rainwater harvesting tanks in all corporation areas and villages. While the people of the State complied with the Government's order and set up rainwater harvesting units in their houses, the Government had failed to supply adequate water.
