BANGALORE, MARCH 22. The Congress has decided to submit a memorandum to the State Election Commission on Tuesday urging it to remove cut-outs and hoardings showing the Prime Minister, A.B. Vajpayee, put up along the newly constructed national highways. Addressing presspersons here on Monday, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) spokesperson, V.R. Sudarshan, said a delegation of Ministers, including Rani Satish and B.K. Chandrashekar, would meet the State Election Commission officials and seek the commission's intervention to remove the huge cut-outs of Mr. Vajpayee. The model code of conduct should be applicable to all political parties and the BJP was no exception, he said. On the involvement of Ministers in the implementation of drought relief works, he said elected representatives were accountable and answerable for all development works in the State. The Ministers' supervision of relief works was essential since there was a long gap between the dissolution of the Legislative Assembly and the announcement of the election results. The code of conduct would be applicable for only 45 days during the election period, he said.
