Amity Convocation held

NEW DELHI MARCH 22. The Sixth Convocation of the Amity Business School was held at Noida this past week where diplomas were conferred on meritorious students of management and business administration. The Samajwadi Party leader, Amar Singh, and the Minister of State for Human Resources, Sanjay Paswan, awarded diplomas to the students.

Mr. Singh awarded Parthapratim Basu with the "Amar Singh Award for Leadership Qualities and Organising Abilities".

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Singh said: "I had come to the Amity Business School as a guest, but I am going back as a student. There is so much to learn from here that I feel that naming an award in my name is a pre-mature honour."

Conference on herbal products

NEW DELHI MARCH 22. A two-day international conference on livelihood and trade options in medicinal plants and herbal products will begin here in the Capital on March 26. Oxfam GB, an international humanitarian and development organisation, is organising the conference.

The meeting will discuss why Indian organisations haven't been successful in creating a viable international market for traditional health products even though the country has a total turnover of Rs. 2,300 crores from the sale of Ayurvedic and herbal products. Other issues of concern include the dynamics of international trade which is tilted in favour of the developed world and the future of the traditional health systems when there is a global agreement on Intellectual Property Rights.

Idea winner announced

NEW DELHI MARCH 22. The Idea Cellular Limited along with Channel V today announced the winner of the recently held "Valentine Ka Pyara Idea" contest. Kriti Kalra, a resident of Delhi, has won a four-day trip to Malaysia. Over 35,000 entries were received from across the country from which the national winner was chosen.

Shemrock school event

NEW DELHI MARCH 22. The Shemrock Group of Schools, a leading chain of preparatory schools, organised the "Shemrock Mega Showcase- 2004" at the Sri Sathya Sai Auditorium on Lodhi Road here this past week. All the branches of the Shemrock Group of Schools in the Capital took part in the event.

The event began with the programme "It Happens Only At Shemrock" which revolved around a day in the school. After singing the welcome song, the children presented an entertaining play.
