MYSORE, MARCH 22. As many as 44,571 students appeared for the SSLC examination in 111 centres in the district today. As many as 750 private candidates, who are appearing for the examination on the basis of attaining 15 years of age, have been put up at three examination centres. Special arrangements have also been made for visually challenged students to write the examination. Under the "cluster-approach" adopted by the authorities, students of different schools are put in a centre to ensure that the students from the same school do not write the examination at the same centre. This apart, the method is also aimed at preventing malpractice. The examinations will conclude on March 29. Prohibitory orders have been clamped in a radius of 200 metres around each centre.
