CHENNAI, MARCH 22. Landline subscribers of Chennai Telephones in northern parts of the city who surrendered their connections will get the refund by this month end. Nearly 4,500 cases of refund are pending, G. Srinivasa Rao, deputy general manager, said. About 15,000 landlines were surrendered in the area this year. Responding to subscribers' complaints at the World Consumer Day celebration organised by the Ambattur Consumers' Association on Saturday, he said when the cheque paid towards bill payment bounces, the line would not be disconnected. The amount would be credited to the next month's bill. However, refund of deposit was not possible on the same day when the landline was surrendered. Chennai Telephones, he said, was taking several customer-friendly measures, including provision of duplicate bills through fax to those having such a facility.
