Rain possible

NEW DELHI MARCH 22. With the weatherman forecasting thundery development or light rains in some areas of the Capital on Tuesday, Delhiites might get some much-needed reprieve from warm weather. The maximum and minimum temperatures will remain around 36 and 20 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Monday were 39.2 and 20.8 degrees Celsius respectively, while Palam recorded a maximum of 40.1 degrees and a minimum of 20.7 degrees Celsius.

At Safdarjung, the maximum humidity was recorded at 70 per cent, while at Palam it stood at 62 per cent. Safdarjung recorded a minimum humidity of 18 per cent, while at Palam the minimum humidity was recorded at 26 per cent.

Reward

NEW DELHI MARCH 22. The Delhi police have decided to reward the sewer worker who helped the police recover the crucial weapon of offence and some documents from a gutter in connection with the murder of 59-year-old Australian woman on March 17.

The police said a reward of Rs. 2,000 would be given to Veerpal who worked hard over two days to help the police recover the screwdriver with which Dawn Griggs was allegedly killed as also some documents which the alleged killers had dumped in the gutter after the crime.

Nabbed

NEW DELHI MARCH 22. Two persons, who allegedly owed allegiance to the dreaded gangster Sanjay Bhutana, have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police. A country-made firearm and two live cartridges were recovered from their possession.

The accused, Narender and Devender, were arrested from Bijwasan in South-West Delhi.

Traffic drive

NEW DELHI MARCH 22. In a drive against drunken driving and violation of traffic signals, the Traffic police have prosecuted over 850 people in the past 48 hours. According to the police, 816 people were prosecuted for traffic signal violation, while 57 were challaned for drunken driving.

Two killed

NEW DELHI MARCH 22. Two persons were killed and two others injured after the auto-rickshaw they were travelling in was hit by some unknown vehicle near Sarai Kale Khan Bridge at Hazrat Nizamuddin in South Delhi late last night.

One of the deceased has been identified as Srinath Yadav (50), a resident of Khoda Colony in Ghaziabad. The injured were identified as Maqsood Alam and Suresh Gupta.
