KOCHI, MARCH 22. A `vidvat sabha' organised by the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit was held on the Kalady campus today. V.Venkataraja Sarma of the French Institute of Indology, Pondicherry, inaugurated the vidvat sabha. Prof. Sarma said that vidvat sabhas had helped in the growth of Sanskrit language. He said that such sabhas had also paved way for the development of academic streams including science, Sanskrit literature and philosophy. K.N.Panikkar, Vice-Chancellor, presided over the meeting held in this connection. G.Gangadharan Nair, general convener, and P.Chithambaran, convener, programme committee, spoke on the occasion. The vidvat sabha will conclude on March 24.
