KOCHI, MARCH 22. A fire that broke out near the diesel loco shed of the Southern Railway at the South Railway Station here this afternoon caused some tension. According to Fire Force personnel, the blaze that engulfed a heap of discarded diesel filters outside the northern end of the loco shed could have turned into a disaster had it not been noticed and put out on time. Two fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire, which broke out around 2 p.m. Railway officials said the fire caused no damage.
