BJP has no base in Haryana: Chautala

By Our Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 23. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief and Haryana Chief Minister, Om Prakash Chautala, today asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party would be wiped out in Haryana after the Lok Sabha elections. He said that whenever the BJP contested elections on its own in the State it had to "eat dust'' as it had no mass base. It was a fact that the BJP always reaped the benefits of political alliance in the State, he added while addressing an election meeting at Panipat.

Mr.Chautala said that the INLD had extended unconditional support to the Vajpayee Government at the Centre for its full term but the BJP had a track record of not extending its support to the Government of any party for a full term. It indulged in "use and throw'' tactics which would not succeed any longer, he asserted.

Referring to the appeal made by the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, that the people should vote in favour of the BJP or the Congress rather than regional parties, he said this had proved beyond doubt that the BJP had "two faces under one hood''.
