CHENNAI, MARCH 23. Steelage Industries, a subsidiary of the Gunnebo Security group of Sweden, has carried out a modernisation and expansion programme at its plant in Gujarat. Addressing presspersons here, today, Naresh Hosangady, Managing Director of the company, said the plant located in Halol, Gujarat, was engaged in the manufacture of security equipment. Besides meeting domestic requirements some of its products were being exported to Gunnebo group companies in Europe and Asia. The Halol plant would become the manufacturing hub for all modern safety products bearing the international quality mark, Mr. Hosangady said. The company's other two plants were located in Mumbai and Chennai, he said. Steelage was offering security solutions through its three strategic business units and the fire extinguishers manufactured under the Minimax brand were highly popular. The company was in the process of introducing ATMs, which besides dispensing cash can accept cash, give receipt and check for counterfeit currencies, Mr. Hosangady said. Steelage, established in 1932 in India, changed hands several times before becoming a subsidiary of the Gunnebo group in 2000. Recently the company obtained ISO 9001-2000 certification and has set its goal to achieve ISO 14001 certification for its Halol plant.
