Free coaching for entrance exams

By Our Staff Reporter

TIRUCHI, MARCH 23 . The Education department will begin its free coaching for Plus-Two students appearing for the Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination, from March 31 to April 23.

The coaching will be offered by teachers of government, government-aided and matriculation schools in the district, according to the Chief Educational Officer, V.C. Rameswaramurugan. The Government Boys' Higher Secondary Schools in Musiri and Lalgudi and the Syed Murzhasa Government Higher Secondary School and the Periyar Centenary Memorial Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Tiruchi would serve as coaching centres.

The Periyar Centenary Memorial Matriculation Higher Secondary School was meant for students passing out from the Matriculation higher secondary schools.

Students who had appeared for the Plus-Two examinations, irrespective of their economic background, could avail themselves of the coaching. Those who had completed the Plus-Two in the previous year could attend the classes by producing their certificates, he said.

Three model tests would be conducted. Twenty teachers, five each in the four centres, to handle Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology were identified. If need be, additional coaching centres would be opened.

The authorities are hopeful that the valuation process can be completed before April 17, in view of the Lok Sabha election. While the valuation of language papers has already commenced, the process of assigning dummy numbers is on for the science subjects. The simultaneous conduct of examination and valuation, feel the authorities, will help to publish the results earlier by a week, compared to last year.
