New technology in the offering

New technology not only minimizes production cost, it also renders the organisation more competitive.

The main motivation for introducing new technology should be to enhance efficiency and serviceability.

In this fast moving world, Power interruption is irritating and results in losses.

So from the power electronics field, came the Online `UPS' (Uninterrupted Power Supply) as an answer to the problem.

Initially "Linear" technology was introduced using transistor 3773, BU508 that gave up to 45-50 percent efficiency. But it also generated more noise and it was large in size.

After that came PWC (Pulse width modulation) with high switching frequency, which worked at an efficiency level of 80-86 percent, using the devices IGBT and MOSFET.

<167,13p,3>It produced less noise, was compact in size and more reliable. It remained in the market for a long time.

Finally came the HF PWM with power "factor correction" technology.

Its overall efficiency is between 89-96 percent

<167,12p,3>In Online UPS, efficiency is more important than other features. This is because it is well-know that if the efficiency is low, the user will suffer by paying more electricity bill.
