MANGALORE, MARCH 24. Dakshina Kannada, which goes to the polls in the second phase of elections on April 26, has Assembly constituencies that form part of three Lok Sabha constituencies, namely Chikmagalur (Belthangady) Udupi (Suratkal, Moodbidri and Bantwal) and Mangalore (Ullal, Mangalore, Vittla, Puttur and Sullia). A total of 12,94,152 voters in the district will exercise their franchise. Women voters outnumber men by 19,866 votes. Dakshina Kannada has a high density of voters in each Assembly constituency. Belthangady has 1,66,447 voters (83,460 women and 82,987 men), Bantwal 1,35,939 (69,769 women and 66,170 men), Suratkal 1,69,502 (86,450 women and 83,052 men), Moodbidri 1,17,440 (62,290 women and 55,150 men), Sullia 1,44,719 (71,695 women and 73,024 men), Puttur 1,61,367 (81,393 women and 79,974 men), Vittla 1,58,106 (79,037women and 79,069 men), Mangalore 89,718 (46,091 women and 43,627 men), and Ullal 1,50,914 (76,824 women and 74,090 men). In the Mangalore Lok Sabha constituency, there are 2,743 service voters. There are 9,89,748 voters with identity cards and 98,932 who are yet to get the identity cards. In Mangalore Lok Sabha area there are 1,138 voting booths, of which 484 are sensitive and 213 are hypersensitive. Ullal tops the list with 49 hypersensitive booths.
