MANGALORE, MARCH 24. Members of the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts' Private Industrial Training Centres' Management Boards' Association took out a procession here on Wednesday against the delay by the Government in releasing salary grants. The procession commenced from Karangalpady and ended in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner. The office-bearers of the association said the delay in releasing grants had affected the employees working in private industrial training centres. They objected to the reported move by the Department of Finance not to release the grants despite assurances given by the Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, and his direction to it. The association claimed that similar protests had been organised in district headquarters across the State. Employees and students of 11 centres participated in the procession here. The association decided to intensify the agitation if the Government failed to fulfil its promise. The MLC, K. Balakrishna Bhat, who addressed the members, said the Government was following a dual policy in their case. He demanded that the Government release the grants at the earliest. Representatives of the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat and the Democratic Youth Federation of India expressed their support to the association. Mr. Bhat and the office-bearers submitted a memorandum to the Government through the Deputy Commissioner.
