Jubilation at PM's house as India makes history at Lahore

NEW DELHI, MARCH 24. The residence of the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, turned into a scene of jubilation and celebrations after India registered a splendid victory against Pakistan in the deciding One-Day International match at Lahore today.

The Prime Minister spent some anxious moments before the television along with his family members.

``Our 11 players won the match and hearts. If 11 players can do this, there is no reason why success should elude 100-crore Indians if they desired something,'' Mr. Vajpayee said.

``It is the determination that leads to victory. Determination is necessary,'' Mr. Vajpayee said.

Asked whether today's win helped the ``feel good'' campaign of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Mr. Vajpayee said: ``This question gives me a feel good feeling.''

As Balaji clean bowled Moin Khan, the entire ``Panchvati'' hall at the Prime Minister's residence erupted into joy and family members hugged one another.

Mr. Vajpayee was with his foster daughter Namita, her husband Ranjan, and their daughter Neha.
