dated March 26, 1954: UNESCO coupons

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has begun a scheme of international "UNESCO coupons" aimed at helping students and teachers to overcome currency barriers to travel. Dr. Luther Evans, Director of UNESCO, who issued the first set of 400,000 dollars worth of coupons on March 24, said the scheme would give fresh impulse to popular education and "promote the flow of ideas".
