Shocking

Sir, — The news report that foreign students in the U.K. are routinely spied upon for suspected terrorist links (March 22) was shocking. The arbitrary blacklisting of the students of certain countries smacks of paranoia.

These self-appointed saviours of democratic values and human rights are, in fact, reducing them to a travesty.
