London MARCH 25. The emphatic victory over Pakistan in the one-day cricket series in Lahore not only gave the Indians a historic series win in the backyard of its arch-rival but also an `official' recognition of being the better of the two sides.

The 3-2 series victory over Pakistan propelled the Indians to fifth position in the ICC ODI championship table with a rating of 107. Pakistan slid to sixth place and for the first time would be ranked below India since October 2003, an ICC press release said here.

Pakistan, which was fifth before the start of the series, saw its ratings come down by one point to 106 placing it at sixth position above England, also on 106.

The positions: 1. Australia 135 points, 2. South Africa 113, 3. Sri Lanka 109, 4. New Zealand 109, 5. India 107, 6. Pakistan 106, 7. England 106, 8. West Indies 100, 9. Zimbabwe 64, 10. Kenya 28, 11. Bangladesh 3. — PTI
