Speaker may contest from Chatra

RANCHI, MARCH 25 . Jharkhand Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari today said he was seriously considering contesting from Chatra Lok Sabha seat where BJP's Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Nagmani was seeking re-election.

``My senior leaders in New Delhi last night gave me freedom to contest from Chatra. I am going to Chatra right now to seek the opinion of the people there,'' Mr. Namdhari told reporters here.

Besides Mr. Namdhari, Ministers Ramchandra Kesri, Madhu Singh, Lalchand Mahto and JD(U) state unit chief Goutam Sagar Rana had been to New Delhi to meet party's national leaders George Fernandes, Nitish Kumar and Sharad Yadav to discuss the poll strategy after the BJP refused to allot a single seat to its coalition partner in the State.

Replying to a question whether he would resign from the Speaker's post, Mr. Namdhari said, ``Not now. Tomorrow I will take a final decision.'' Party leaders, however, said Mr. Namdhari was all set to contest the Chatra seat. -- PTI
