Kozhikode
By Our Staff Reporter
KOZHIKODE, MARCH 25. The Krishna Menon Museum at East Hill here has been functioning without power supply since the last one month. Reason: non-payment of dues to the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB). Visitors to the museum now have no other option but to view the artefacts without lights. While viewing the objects on the ground floor without power is a difficult proposition, the art gallery on the first floor is in pitch darkness. ``Even if the lights are on, they have not been placed in a proper manner,'' sources said. The museum has also been going without water supply since the last one year. The staff and the visitors have been facing a lot of difficulty on account of this. The 10 staff members here have made their own arrangements for water supply by spending money from their own purses. The museum under the Department of Museums and Zoos, Government of Kerala, functions in a complex which also houses the Pazhassi Raja Archaelogical Museum. The latter managed by the Department of Archaelogy has both power and water supply. The Krishna Menon Museum has bills totally Rs. 7,000 to be paid to the KSEB. Sources said that repeated appeals have been made to the authorities in Thiruvanan thapuram reminding of the bills to be paid to KSEB, as well as the plight of the visitors here.
