MIM, MBT workers clash

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, MARCH 25. Workers of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) and the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) clashed here at Chandrayanagutta on Thursday following arguments over a meeting organised by the latter at Gulshan Iqbal colony.

The Chandrayanagutta police registered cases against activists of both the parties.

According to the Chatrinaka ACP, R. Sai Krishna, trouble started when some MIM workers, led by one Rashid, entered into an argument with the MBT leader, Khayam Khan, who was returning home after holding a meeting with party workers at Gulshan Iqbal colony. Subsequently, members of the two groups clashed. Rashid and others allegedly beat up the MBT workers raising objection over their holding a meeting in the area.

A scuffle ensued between the two groups when they came to the Chandrayanagutta police station to lodge complaints. "Some MBT workers rounded up a couple of MIM activists a few yards away from the police station and hit them," the ACP said. Cases were booked against the two groups.
