NEW DELHI, MARCH 25. The manager of a petrol pump was shot at and robbed of a huge amount of cash by three unidentified young men at Okhla in South Delhi today. According to the police, Kuldeep Singh, manager of Sri Sai Petrol Station on Okhla roundabout, and another worker Lakshmi Chand, were going on scooter to deposit cash in a bank. Kuldeep was carrying Rs. 1.8 lakhs in a bag, while Lakshmi was driving the scooter. Around 1 p.m., when the two had gone barely some distance away from the petrol station and entered a lane, they were intercepted by three young men riding a black motorcycle. One of them whipped out a country-made revolver and shot at Kuldeep. However, he escaped with minor injury as the bullet grazed past his neck. The trio then snatched the bag from him and escaped. Kuldeep was taken to a nearby hospital where he was reported to be out of danger. The police claimed to have gathered some clues about the culprits on the basis of description provided by the victims.
Snatcher nabbed
A Delhi Traffic Police constable managed to catch a chain snatcher when a woman raised an alarm near a traffic intersection at Kotwali in North Delhi today. The Joint Commissioner of Police has announced a reward for the constable. According to the police, 24-year-old Manisha, a resident of Pushp Vihar in South Delhi, had come to Rajghat for some work. From there, she decided to take a rickshaw for Chandni Chowk. Around 3-30 p.m., as the rickshaw waited for the traffic signal to turn green at an intersection near Rajghat, a young man snatched Manisha's chain. Constable Ashok, who was manning the traffic at the intersection, heard her screams and chased the man. He finally cornered the alleged culprit near Shanti Van and recovered the chain. The accused has been identified as Sanjay Gaur, a vagabond. Following the incident, Joint Commissioner (Northern Range) announced a reward for the constable.
