NEW DELHI, MARCH 25. A Delhi police constable has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Delhi police for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe from a factory owner for not sealing his factory. According to the police, Lakhan Singh, a West Delhi resident, owns a soda-manufacturing factory at Shiv Mandir in Raghubir Nagar, West Delhi. Three beat constables of Raghubir Nagar police post, Naresh Pal, Amit Kumar and Dharambir, had been harassing him over the past few days. They were demanding Rs. 5,000 from him and threatened that his factory will be sealed if he did not pay up. On March 23, Dharambir and Naresh Pal went to Lakhan's factory and asked him to pay up Rs. 5,000. However, Lakhan negotiated with them and it was decided that he would pay Rs. 1,000, as the first instalment, on Wednesday. In the meantime, Lakhan informed the ACB and a trap was laid. When Naresh Pal came to collect the money, he was arrested. Naresh has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigations in the case are on.
