By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, MARCH 25. A five-year-old boy, who was kidnapped from his house at Sangam Vihar in South Delhi on March 6, has been rescued from a jungle in Madhya Pradesh. Two persons have been arrested in this connection.

According to the police, Akash, son of Chander Pal, a small-time businessman living in G-Block Sangam Vihar, went missing on March 6 evening. A missing report was lodged the next morning. After a futile search, the police registered a case of kidnapping and took up investigations.

On March 12, the family received a ransom call in which the caller demanded Rs. 3 lakhs. Investigations revealed that a former tenant of Chander Pal, who had left for Kewalwari village at Seoni in Madhya Pradesh, might be involved in the kidnapping. The police managed to zero-in on the village where the suspects were supposed to be hiding. In the meantime, the family kept getting calls from the kidnapper who continued to threaten the family of dire consequences. They also got Akash to talk to the family.

Following investigations, the police managed to arrest to two suspects. They have been identified as Nand Kishore and Gajendra Kumar. During interrogation, they allegedly confessed to having kidnapped the child. At their instance, police rescued Akash from the jungle near Bawaria village in Seoni district.

The accused told the police that they had kidnapped the child and brought him to Kewalwari. After sensing that the police pressure was increasing, they had taken the child into the jungle near Bawaria village. Initially, they had kept the child in the house of Inder Pal, their acquaintance living in Bawaria village, telling him that Akash was his nephew.

Nand Kishore had earlier lived in the house of Chander Pal and left following a tiff over a minor issue.
