The maximum and minimum temperature recorded at Safdarjung on Thursday was 34.6 and 17.3 degrees Celsius, while Palam recorded a maximum of 36.2 and a minimum 17.0 degree Celsius respectively. The maximum humidity recorded was 59 per cent at Safdarjung and 62 per cent at Palam while the minimum was 10 and 14 per cent respectively.
Slums removed
Senior MCD officials said they had to hire bulldozers from Noida today as the owners of bulldozers in Delhi refused to rent out their machines fearing violence. "Seventy per cent of the Kanchanpuri slums was cleared today. The rest would be removed on Friday," officials said. After Kanchanpuri, officials said the slum clusters in Indira Colony would be removed followed by Dhapa Colony in Vasant Vihar.
Nabbed
According to the police, Naresh, an Excise Act accused, was arrested by a police team comprising two sub-inspectors, one assistant sub-inspector, two head constables and a constable on March 19. At his instance, the police went to arrest another accused, Sewa Ram, at Swarn Park in Ashok Vihar. Naresh allegedly used to supply the illicit liquor to Sewa Ram. However, before the team could lay their hands on the second accused, a group of Swarn Park residents began pelting the police team with stones. In the melee, Sewa Ram and his brother, Chhattar Pal, managed to escape. Three persons were arrested on the spot. Following further investigations, Sewa Ram and Chhattar Pal were arrested on Wednesday.
Booked
According to the police, a raid was conducted following a tip-off at Jaidev Park in Punjabi Bagh and seven persons were arrested. Those arrested have been identified as Parveen and Ajay, both residents of Jaidev Park, Rajesh, a resident of Fateh Nagar, Arun Goyal and Raman, both resident of Vikaspuri, Sandeep Gambiar, a resident of Raja Garden and Anuj, a resident of Moti Nagar.
