KOCHI, MARCH 26. Kitco, a public sector consultancy group, has come up with a proposal for establishing a common effluent treatment plant to treat wastewater flowing into the Periyar from industrial units located at Edayar. After preliminary enquiries, Kitco has found that the industrial units located at Edayar produce around 60 lakh litres of wastewater daily. The cost for establishing the plant is Rs.17 crores, A.X. Joseph, general manager, Kitco, said here today. According to the project proposal, wastewater from each unit at Edayar would be routed to the common treatment plant through a pipeline network. The wastewater would be processed scientifically before directing it to the Periyar.
