No injury to Ganguly's back: Manager

MULTAN, MARCH 26. Indian cricket team manager Ratnakar Shetty said that the MRI tests done on Sourav Ganguly in Lahore had revealed only a muscle spasm in his back.

"There is no injury to his back. He will undergo two more sessions with the physio. It is too early to say whether he will be fit for the first Test. We will know that only tomorrow evening,'' Prof. Shetty said addressing the media here on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Indian captain arrived here by the morning flight from Lahore, but did not join the team at nets.

The Indian team had a strenuous session under the supervision of coach John Wright at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Ganguly appeared to have hurt his back seriously when he flung himself to stop a scorching drive from his Pakistani counterpart Inzamam-ul-Haq in the fifth ODI at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Pakistan manager Haroon Rashid said that the three-Test series would be a different ball game altogether. "It will be entirely different. There will be no restrictions on the bowlers like in the ODIs,'' he said after Pakistan's practice session on Friday.

Commenting on Ganguly's fitness for the first Test, he said, "Ganguly has been an influential captain for India. The entire team is behind him. Dravid has got some experience in captaincy, but if the skipper is missing from the line-up, it is bound to have an impact.''
