ANANTAPUR, MARCH 26. PW naxals gunned down a TDP activist in Gunipalli village of Bukkapatnam mandal in the district on Friday, to avenge the killing of a PW member, Bhupati, at Venkatapuram in Ramagiri mandal on Wednesday. According to the police, three armed naxals went to the house of Chandrasekhar Reddy (46), a farmer who had joined the TDP recently, and shot him at point blank range at around 7 a.m. Mr. Reddy was reading a newspaper at that time. A report from Karimnagar said a naxalite, P. Ramulu (35), was killed in an alleged encounter with the police between Venkatapur and Pothireddypalli villages of Yellareddypet mandal on Friday afternoon. Ramulu opened fire from behind bushes at the police party, which had launched a combing operation. The police returned fire, wounding Ramulu. He succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital in Sircilla.
