BANGALORE, MARCH 26. The State Government on Thursday filed a criminal case against an IAS officer, A.K. Monnappa, and two others in connection with the alleged malpractices in the Gazetted Probationers' group A and B examination conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) in 1998. The complaint was lodged by P.K. Babu Rao, Under Secretary, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, (DPAR) with the Vidhana Soudha police on Thursday, the police said. In his complaint, Mr. Rao said Mr. Monnappa, who was the KPSC Secretary from January 1, 1998 to December 31, 1998, had tampered with the answer scripts of some of the candidates to favour them. The police have taken up a case against Mr. Monnappa and two others, Shivanna and Rameshwarappa. The Government initiated criminal proceedings against Mr. Monnappa based on a report by a sub-committee of the KPSC some time ago.
