Children meet President

NEW DELHI MARCH 27. The President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, interacted with children from Jammu's migrant camps at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The 75 enthusiastic children shared with Dr. Kalam their experience of visiting the Science Museum, Teen Murti Bhawan, Qutab Minar and Red Fort in the Capital.

The children are staying in the SOS Children's Village, Greenfields. Encouraging the children to become responsible citizens, Dr. Kalam said: "Each one of you need to educate five people and plant five trees in your neighbourhood." He also shared his vision for a developed India by 2020.

The President of the SOS CVI, J.N.Kaul, expressed confidence that the meeting with the President would bring these children into the mainstream.

Mahanivedanam ceremony

NEW DELHI MARCH 27. The annual Mahanivedanam ceremony at Sri Balaji Mandir will be held here this Sunday, March 28. There will be "Maha Aarti" at 10-30 a.m. and prasadam at 12 noon.

ATM opened

NEW DELHI MARCH 27. The Punjab National Bank (PNB) opened its new ATM and second customs duty acceptance office at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here today. The Chief Commissioner of Customs, Ramesh Ramachandra, was the chief guest while the Chairman and Managing Director of PNB, S.S.Kohli, presided over the function. Mr. Kohli said that PNB with the assistance from the Infosys Technologies Limited has recently launched the centralised banking solution, inter-branch networking and data sharing platform aimed at providing excellent banking facilities to their customers.

Eye camp to be organised

NEW DELHI MARCH 27. The Delhi Bar Association will organise a blood and eye donation camp at Lal Chand Vats Hall in Tis Hazari on Monday. The camp, conducted by the Armed Forces Transfusion Centre, will be organised in collaboration with the Justice Sunanda Bhandare Foundation.

A trip to remember

NEW DELHI MARCH 27. With the cricket playing an instrumental role in fostering friendly relations between India and Pakistan, a 100-member team from the Target Barrel Party (TBP), a multi-crore conglomerate in real estate and hotels, went to Lahore to watch the just concluded Samsung ODI series.

The TBP, which is the brainchild of Amit Jaiswal of the JHV group, got to watch an engrossing game of cricket.

Joined by 250 cricket fans from Punjab, the trip was heart-warming for most of the members as they got an opportunity to meet, interact and exchange views on a number of topical issues with the Pakistani spectators.
