HYDERABAD, MARCH 27. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Saturday released its second list of candidates for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections with 18 names. While there were 16 nominees for the Assembly, only two names figured in the list of Lok Sabha contestants. The party had come out with the names of five candidates for Assembly elections and one for Lok Sabha polls in the first list. The Lok Sabha contestants in the second list are: D. Ravindra Naik, former Minister (Warangal) and T. Madhusudhan Reddy (Adilabad). The names of candidates (with constituencies in brackets) for Assembly polls are: S. Santosh Reddy, Nizamabad Zilla Parishad Chairman (Armoor), Gaddam Ganga Reddy, former Nizamabad MP (Ditchpally), K. Nagesh (Aler), Habeeb Abdul Rehman (Mahabubnagar), Singireddy Niranjan Reddy (Kollapur), C. Laxma Reddy (Jadcherla), Koppula Eashwar (Mydaram-SC), V. Laxmikantha Rao (Huzurabad), E. Rajendar (Kamalapur), K.V. Rajeswara Rao, Karimnagar Zilla Parishad Chairman (Metpally), Kommuri Pratap Reddy, Narmetta ZPTC member (Cherial), Macharla Jagannatham, former MLA (Wardhannapet), Bandari Sara Rani (Parkal), Kambhampati Laxma Reddy (Narsampet), Jalli Siddaiah, Maddur ZPTC member, and Kathili Lalita Bai (Boath). The TRS had retained former Medak MP, A. Narendra, from the constituency and named G. Vijayarama Rao (Station Ghanpur), M. Ravindranath Reddy (Alampur), R. Papa Rao (Sircilla), N. Narasimha Reddy (Musheerabad) and A. Govind Naik (Khanapur) as Assembly candidates in the first list. The release of the second list was marked by hectic developments in the TRS camp during the day. The party was dismayed over the Congress party's decision to nominate candidates for eight Assembly seats to which it had laid claim. It was attributed to the Congress that it had conceded 42 Assembly and 6 Lok Sabha seats to TRS in the seat sharing but eight Assembly seats in Telangana which the Congress declared on Friday were believed to have been allotted to TRS. Following the development, the TRS president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, cancelled his visit to Cherial in Warangal to kick off his election campaign on Saturday. He was supposed to offer prayers at the Mallikarjuna Swamy temple at Komuravelli before taking up a yatra in the Assembly segment. Mr. Rao later planned a visit to Delhi in the evening to meet the AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, but the programme also fell through. Mr. Rao, Mr. Narendra and other leaders held prolonged discussions at a star hotel to go ahead with their second list. Emerging from the meeting, Mr. Rao refused to answer questions of newsmen. He said they could wait for the list of candidates over fax at their offices. Indeed, the list was faxed.
