CHITTOOR, MARCH 27. The Chittoor district annual credit plan of the banks for the year 2004-05 with an outlay of Rs. 865 crores has been launched by the Joint Collector, B. Janardhan Reddy. The plan envisages extending financial assistance to 3.5 lakh persons for taking up various economic activities for the overall development. The agriculture and animal husbandry sectors have been allocated Rs. 545 crores for giving various loans to 2.25 lakh beneficiaries. Of this amount, Rs. 415 crores will be sanctioned as crop loan to 1.70 lakh farmers for raising crops on 2.75 lakh acres of land which will be given to them through special kisan credit cards and Rs. 100 crores for implementation of drip and sprinkler irrigation on 50 per cent subsidy. Addressing a meeting in this connection, the Joint Collector has urged bankers and officers to work in coordination to achieve targets.
