ANANTAPUR, MARCH 27. The pre-election scenario in the district is witnessing a strange phenomenon this time as several newcomers, particularly belonging to the Congress, are busy with campaigning claiming that their candidatures have been confirmed. There is nothing new in senior leaders of parties or former MLAs/MPs launching electioneering much before the confirmation of their ticket. But, newcomers taking up the campaigning when the senior leaders of their respective parties, who are also aspiring for the ticket, is something new. G. Neelavati in Gooty, G. Bhanumati in Penukonda, Uma Devi in Kalyanadurg and S. Sailajanath in Singanamala, newcomers belonging to the Congress, have launched campaigning though their ticket is yet to be confirmed. Strangely though, they are meeting the senior leaders of the party seeking their support claiming that they have been given the ticket. A strong contender and former MLA of the Congress from Gooty is learnt to have advised Ms. Neelavati when she went to seek his support that overenthusiasm was not good even before the ticket was confirmed. "Get the ticket confirmed first and then come to me,'' he is learnt to have told the newcomer. The newcomer had received a similar response from another aspirant, a woman who served as the chairperson of a civic body. In fact, Ms. Neelavati and Ms. Uma Devi began issuing statements to media thanking the party seniors in helping them get the ticket.
