PALANI, MARCH 27. The 10-day `Panguni uthiram' festival will commence with flag hoisting at the Thiru Avinangudi Temple in Palani on March 29. Special pujas, aradhanas and veedhi ulas will be performed on the festival days. Thirukalyana utsavam will be celebrated on April 3 and temple car festival at 4.15 p.m. on April 4. Traditional fire crackers festival will be conducted at 9 p.m. on April 5. The temple administration has organised cultural programmes, discourses, devotional songs and dance dramas at the Kudamuzhukku mandapam at the Palani foothills. The district administration and the police administration have made elaborate arrangements. Top priority is given to drinking water and health measures. Medical camps have been set up at prime locations in Palani and at the foothills. Security has been beefed up at the bus stand, the Padhavinayagar Temple, the Thiruavinangudi Temple, the winch station, the hill temple and public places.
Special buses
The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Madurai Division IV) Limited will operate special buses to Palani. In a release issued today, K. Chandrasekaran, General Manager, said buses would be operated to Palani from Dindigul, Tiruchi, Madurai, Karur, Erode, Salem, Tiruppur, Pollachi, Coimbatore and Theni districts. Senior officers would be posted at those places to guide pilgrims. Wireless communication system would also be provided at those places for easy and smooth operation of the specials.
