MADURAI, MARCH 27 . The Karuppayoorani police today arrested a notorious robber involved in several cases of chain-snatching and two-wheeler thefts. A special team, led by the Inspector, A. Ganesan, arrested K. Kannan alias `Kuttai' Kannan (23) of Sinthamani this morning following a tip-off. During an interrogation, the accused confessed to having committed many chain-snatchings along with his associate, P. Pandi (25) of Alwarpuram. The duo also snatched a four-sovereign gold chain from Jothimani (19) of Aruppukottai at Pandikoil on Friday. Around 11.5 sovereigns of gold ornaments, Rs. 20,000 in cash, two stolen motorcycles and a deadly weapon were recovered from Kannan. A manhunt is on to nab Pandi, police sources said.
