Bidar
By Our Staff Correspondent
BIDAR, MARCH 28. A section of the leaders and members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have threatened not to campaign for the party if Revanasiddappa Jalade, the party candidate for Bidar, was not replaced. In a letter to the BJP state unit President, H.N. Ananth Kumar, copies of which were released to the Press, the party's Bidar taluk unit President, Rajkumar Karanji, said: "Mr. Jalade is incapable of contesting an election. He has neither (sic) the strength nor the eligibility to be the party's candidate. We will lose the election if he remains our candidate. If he is not changed, party workers, leaders, and office-bearers of the city and taluk units will remain neutral in the election campaign." The letter said that the party's State unit would then be solely responsible for all losses that the party might suffer in the district. The letter was drafted after a meeting in Bidar on Sunday.
