KOZHIKODE, MARCH 28. A.C. Muthiah, Chairman of the Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode (IIM-K), has justified its decision endorsing the Centre's directive on fee cut and sought additional funds for the maintenance of the prestigious management institute. ``The decision to reduce fees is the prerogative of the Centre and we are not supposed to dictate terms, as the Government has a supervisory role to play,'' Mr. Muthiah told mediapersons here. He said the IMM-K Board of Governors, at its meeting on Friday night, had unanimously decided to implement the Centre's directive without affecting the autonomy of the Institute. A controversy had erupted in the wake of the Union Human Resource Development Ministry's decision to slash the annual fee from Rs 1.50 lakhs to Rs. 30,000. The IIMs Lucknow and Indore had already endorsed the decision. He said that the Centre should allocate additional funds to meet the loss of revenue in the wake of the huge reduction in fee adding that ``we do not have huge corpus of funds'' as the IIM-K was in its infancy. -UNI
