CUDDAPAH, MARCH 28. Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) has supplied 816.62 Million Units (MU) of power to maintain the rising demand for the agriculture sector and prevent standing crop losses during March so far as against 692.625 MU in the corresponding month last year. The Chairman and Managing Director of APSPDCL, Tirupati, Mr. K. Ranganatham, said in a statement on Sunday that problems such as outage of the Talcher, Simhadri and NTPC units were overcome and the maximum consumption recorded was 34.144 MU on March 23. The average daily consumption of Discom was 32,66 MU as against 27.7 MU in the corresponding period last year, he said. The company handled an additional five MU per day by pumping in additional investments by way of erection of 57 sub-stations of 33/11 KV till February-end. A minimum of seven hours power supply was ensured for the agricultural sector, he said adding that the distribution transformer losses were curtailed to 885 during March as against 950 failures reported in February. The Discom maintained a rolling stock of 623 transformers in the six districts resulting in quick replacement of failed transformers, Mr. Ranganatham said. Breakdowns were recorded on a lower side at 28 feeders of 11 KV and six feeders of 33 KV. Of 5,350 complaints received in six districts in February this year, 5,290 were attended to within the time frame stipulated under the Citizens' Charter.
