Activists storm TDP office

ANANTAPUR, MARCH 28. Tension prevailed at the district office of the TDP here on Sunday when supporters of an aspirant for party ticket from Anantapur Assembly constituency stormed the office alleging that supporters of another aspirant had acted in a manner of humiliating their leader.

Supporters of S. Salar Basha, an aspirant for party ticket from Anantapur, went round the town in procession on motorcycles by raising slogans in support of their leader. The procession also passed through the street where another aspirant, V. Prabhakara Chowdary, is staying. Supporters of Mr. Chowdary alleged that the action of the followers of Mr. Salar Basha was provocative.

They stormed the TDP office and raised slogans against Mr. Salar Basha.

They forced the office secretary of the TDP, Panduranga Murthy, to fax their memorandum to the party's head office in Hyderabad. However, they did not resort to any vandalism on the office premises. The supporters of Mr. Chowdary also planned a rally in the town tomorrow opposing ticket for Mr. Salar Basha. While Mr. Salar Basha was out of station to seek blessings of `baba', Mr. Chowdary is camping in Hyderabad for the party ticket. The party is yet to announce the candidature from Anantapur.
