CHENNAI, MARCH 28. The Central Crime Branch on Saturday arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly cheating a mobile phone service dealer after promising him a multicrore contract from a Mumbai-based trust. According to police, Jayaraj (52), a resident of St. Thomas Mount, cheated Sam Nayagam of Rs.2 lakhs, promising him a contract worth Rs. 6 crores. He won Nayagam's confidence by producing fake documents from the Mumbai firm, claiming that it was being run by a former Maharashtra Chief Minister. Jayaraj has been booked under sections 420 (cheating) and 471 (possession of bogus documents) of the Indian Penal Code.
