BANGALORE, MARCH 28. A girl and her father were among four persons who allegedly committed suicide in the city. A woman who allegedly attempted suicide earlier,died in a hospital on Saturday. An 18-year-old girl and her father allegedly committed suicide in their house in Kamalanagar in Basaveshwanagar Police Station limits on Saturday night. The police said the girl, Renuka, was upset over her father, Muniyappa (60), coming home drunk and quarrelling with her mother everyday. On Saturday, her parents quarrelled again when her mother refused to give money to Muniyappa. Her mother left the house in a fit of anger. Following this, Renuka reportedly hanged herself. Her neighbours came to her rescue and took her to Victoria Hospital. But she was declared dead on arrival. Meanwhile, her father, who felt guilty, allegedly hanged himself to death. In another case, Susairaj (23), a plumber from Arasu Colony, allegedly set himself on fire when other inmates of the house were away on Saturday. He died at Victoria Hospital. The police said the reason for his suicide was not known. In the third case, Mallikarjuna (40) allegedly hanged himself from a tree in front of his house in the early hours of Sunday. The police said the man had consumed liquor and the reason for his action was not known. Another suicide was reported from B. Narayanapura where Ammi (20), wife of Devaraja, allegedly set herself ablaze. The police said she could not tolerate the restrictions being imposed by the latter's grandfather, Annayyappa (75). The police said she set herself on fire on March 18. She died at Victoria Hospital. The couple married only four months ago, the police said. Chain snatched: An autorickshaw-borne man allegedly snatched away a gold chain from Manjula (60) when she was going to the church on Sunday morning near St. Germaine's School in Frazer Town. Arrested: The Hebbal police arrested four minors, who allegedly stole sanitary articles and motors from new buildings. The police said washbasins, water meters, steel taps, and a couple of motors, all worth Rs. 35,000, were recovered from them. Burnt to death: A 13-year-old, who was working as a maidservant with a doctor, died after her dress reportedly caught fire in K.R. Puram on Saturday. The police said the victim, Selvi, was working for Dr. Rajesh, who was running a clinic near Ayyappa Temple.
