HYDERABAD, MARCH 28. The Moghalpura police registered a case against the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) former MLA, Akbaruddin Owaisi, on the charge of delivering a provocative speech at a public meeting a couple of days ago. According to the Mirchowk ACP, C. Saheb Peer, Mr. Akbaruddin made a provocative speech at a meeting held at Volta Hotel in protest against the recent killing of the Hamas leader, Sheik Ahmed Yassin, in Gaza Strip. "During his speech, Mr. Akbaruddin tried to incite religious sentiments attracting penal action," the ACP said. The Banjara Hills police on Sunday registered a case against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) city secretary, Sudarshan, under the Prevention of Atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Tribes Act following a complaint lodged by one Gopinath of Khammam charging Mr. Sudarshan with abusing him in the name of caste. Mr. Gopinath charged that Mr. Sudarshan abused him when he went to the TRS office at Banjara Hills on Saturday. "We are yet to ascertain facts," the Banjara Hills ACP, P. Chandramouli, said. Meanwhile, the Banjara Hills police have sent a notice to Purushotham Reddy, who filed a cheating case against the TRS president, K. Chandrasekhara Rao, to produce the witnesses for examination under Section 161 of Criminal Procedure Code. Mr. Purushotham Reddy, in his complaint, quoted names of editors of two regional newspapers as witnesses. "We have sought Mr. Reddy to produce witnesses as part of investigation," Mr. Chandramouli explained.
