HYDERABAD, MARCH 28. The Narayanguda police on Sunday arrested `Dhamaka News Network' owner, Mohd. Hameed (45), who allegedly duped a businessman, B. Murali Krishna, planning to contest the Assembly elections from the Himayatnagar constituency, of over Rs. 1 lakh. A native of Tenali, Mr. Krishna released advertisements in newspapers a few days ago seeking help in organising his campaign. Subsequently, he employed 30 persons, who responded to the advertisements. Each of them was given a mobile phone to plan a hi-tech campaign. Claiming himself as a successful public relations organiser, Hameed of Santoshnagar met Mr. Krishna on March 19 and accepted Rs. 5,000 in advance to organise the campaign. In next few days, he collected Rs. 1.10 lakhs from Mr. Krishna in the name of mobilising supporters and organising meeting at Viceroy Hotel. "Hameed has even given a cheque of Rs. 50,000 to Mr. Krishna saying that the money has been contributed by persons after watching his ads in newspapers," the Abids ACP, Mohd. Tajuddin, said. Hameed allegedly led Mr. Krishna to believe that Bharatiya Janata Party leaders were willing to give him ticket and asked him to go to Delhi. Believing Hameed's version, the businessman flew to Delhi on March 24 night. "Hameed assured him that one Balwinder Singh will meet him at airport. But nobody was there to receive Mr. Krishna who returned to the city and lodged a complaint with the police," the ACP said.
