Bihar Minister resigns
By Our Special Correspondent
PATNA,
MARCH 29.
The Minister of State for Weights and Measures, Cheddi Paswan, today put in his papers in protest against the party's decision to allocate the Sasaram (SC) Lok Sabha seat to the Congress.
Despite threats of more resignations, the Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo, Laloo Prasad Yadav, remained unfazed saying that those willing to quit were welcome to do so.
"What is it that they want? That I should not go in for an alliance? We have to make sacrifices for a bigger cause."
He maintained that the exit of those talking of principles, on being denied ticket, would not have any impact on the electoral outcome.
Mr. Yadav was reacting after a meeting with the Lok Janshakti Party chief, Ram Vilas Paswan, today. According to him, it was agreed to set up a joint campaign committee to oversee the electioneering aspect of each candidate.
However, according to sources, the meeting sought to sort out the problem that had cropped up within the LJP with its MLA, Rama Singh who was declared an absconder demanding a ticket from Sheohar.
It was said that the two leaders agreed not to tamper with the seat-sharing arrangement that had been put in place.
