NEW DELHI, MARCH 29. The Bharatiya Janata Party today took strong exception to a television advertisement seeking to question the role of the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in the freedom struggle, and accused the Congress of launching a "completely false and slanderous" campaign against him. "Apart from being completely untrue, these allegations are unsubstantiated. They have been repeated time and again by the Congress party during the course of every election since 1977. It is also pertinent that these allegations have been repeatedly rejected by the people of India," the party said in a letter to the Election Commission regarding the advertisements issued by a private organisation through various TV channels.
