KASARAGOD, MARCH 29. A golden chariot is being made for carrying the deity during festivals at the Sri Mookambika temple in Kollur in Karanataka State near here, according to a brochure from the Golden Chariot Construction Committee recently. The pulling of the chariot attracts a large number of devotees. They participate in pulling the chariot around the temple during special occasions and festivals. The 10.5-feet high chariot would be made of teak and covered with gold. It is estimated to cost Rs. 3.5 crores. The new chariot is expected to ready by Navarathri this year.
