RAMANATHAPURAM, MARCH 29. The People's Alliance will emerge as an alternative front as the people are fed up with the two Dravidian parties, which have failed to ensure their welfare, the Puthiya Tamizhagam leader, K. Krishnasamy, said today. Speaking to presspersons here, Dr. Krishnasamy, the Dalit Panthers of India general secretary, Thol. Tirumavalavan, and the Makkal Tamil Desam founder, M. Kannappan, said both the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam failed to protect the rights and interests of minorities and Dalits. ``Our main aim is to prove that the alliance is a force to contend with.'' The third front concept would pay political dividends in the 2006 Assembly elections. Neither the AIADMK nor the DMK can form a government in 2006 without the help of the People's Alliance, they asserted. The People's Alliance welcomed the decision of the Rajnikant fans associations to support AIADMK-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominees in the constituencies where the Pattali Makkal Katchi candidates were contesting. However they should reconsider and support the People's Alliance so that a new government could be formed in 2006 without the help of the Dravidian parties, said Mr. Tirumavalavan.
