THIRUVANANTHAPURAM. MARCH 29. The senior Congress leader, K. Karunakaran, has written to the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Murli Manohar Joshi, asking that the all India medical entrance examination of the CBSE, scheduled to be held on April 11, be postponed as it happens to be Easter day. In his letter, Mr. Karunakaran has pointed out that Christians, one of the major communities in the State, have to attend special service in the church on that day with all members of the family, including children. "If the examination is conducted on this day, it will deny children the opportunity to participate in the worship and celebration of the festival," the letter says. "So, equity and fair play demand that the examination proposed to be conducted on Easter day may be postponed to another convenient day. It will certainly get rid of the sense of resentment and infringement on secularism," the letter says.
