NEW DELHI, MARCH 29. To meet the challenges arising out of overpopulation in urban areas, the Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF) is introducing an advanced certificate course in urban management from April. The RBEF -- an umbrella organisation of Amity Educational Institutions -- is gearing up to meet the alarming report of the United Nations Commission of Human Settlement (UNCHS) that predicts that by 2030 nearly half of India's population will be living in cities. As this demographic projection will bring severe pressure on the urban infrastructure, the RBEF will through this four-month course try to infuse professionalism in the cadre of officials in urban local bodies, urban financial institutions, private developers and non-government organisations.
