Thiruvananthapuram March 29. The first Mahatma Gandhi Education Foundation mini-screen awards instituted by the Mahatma Gandhi Education Foundation have been announced. The veteran cine actor, Nedumudi Venu, won the best actor award for his role in the teleserial Oomakkuyil while the award for the best actress was bagged by Chippy for her role in the serial, Sthree oru Saanthwanam. Announcing the awards at a press conference here today, the chairman of the jury, Sajin Lal, said the lyricist, Sreekumaran Thampi, would be felicitated for the contributions rendered for the growth of Malayalam cinema. While Oomakkuyil was selected as the best teleserial, Suresh Unnithan, who directed Venalkkaalam bagged the best director award.
